Between acne, wrinkles, sunspots, and sunburns, there are so many things to worry about when it comes to taking care of your body, and particularly your skin. Dermatologists have pin pointed natural ways and products to help you get that soft, glowing, and clear skin that everyone wants in life. But through life, we all make mistakes that are unknown or at least a mistake that we are willing to take for the price of beauty. We've put together six things that many people do that dermatologists want you to stop doing. It's for your own good, we promise.

Burnt Scalp

You're at the park or the beach, and you've done your due diligence by applying your sunscreen to prevent sunburn. You've hit your face, arms, and legs, and no UV ray is going to get through your sunblock. After a long day, you get home and your head is completely burnt and soon you begin to peel. Many people always forget to add some sunscreen to their scalp and end up getting terribly burned. Skin cancer can certainly occur in the scalp and can easily spread to other parts of your body. So, next time you're out in the sun, spray some sunscreen to your head or for an immediate solution, wear a hat.

Picking at Acne

We've all been there, there's a big pimple or white head on your face that is just screaming at you to pop it. Naturally, your immediate overwhelming feeling is to give it a squeeze to pop that baby out. Unfortunately, that is not the solution and dermatologists everywhere beg their patients not to do it. Popping a pimple can actually make it worse and spread more bacteria throughout your face, plus it will increase the likelihood of it scarring. 

Going Overboard on the Treatment

Adult acne is extremely common and no one truly enjoys it. When we wake up with a new pimple on our face, our immediate response is to get rid of it as quickly as possible, and with that comes a load of treatment. Many will wash their face with a harsh soap or face wash that can severely dry out their skin. As we get older, are skin cannot take such harsh chemicals, and will react to things much easier. Try using a gentle cleanser only once or twice a day to avoid drying out your skin and causing any irritation.

Scrubbing Post Workout

After a long, hard workout, a hot shower sounds amazing. Your body just released a bunch of sweat and it's time for you to deodorize and get that body clean. But before you scrub your body aggressively from head to toe, be aware of what you are using on your body. Many people tend to use aggressive scrubs that will dehydrate your skin, leading to worse skin problems such as acne or eczema. Opt for a gentle cleanser to avoid clogged pores, preventing any breakouts. 

Sleeping in Your Makeup

Being a woman is a lot of work. We have to wear those high heels, short skirts, do our hair, and put on that makeup. After a long night out, all we want to do is hop in bed and pass out. While that all sounds relaxing, forgetting to take your makeup off before you go to bed is a dermatologist "No No". Try to make a routine of washing your face every night before heading to bed. If you forgo the nightly scrubbing, you will be sleeping in the day's filth that your skin collected throughout the day from any makeup left behind or even dirt. Sleeping in your makeup will clog pores, breakouts, irritation, bacteria buildup, and of course, premature aging!
