In one of his hit singles, Justin Bieber croons, "If I was your boyfriend, I'd never let you go" — but if he's your owner/primary caregiver? Apparently that's a whole different story.
The 22-year-old singer has reportedly abandoned Todd, his 7-month-old Chow Chow, and left him in the care of his friend — who's now trying to raise $8,000 so Todd can undergo an operation that will save his life.
According to C.J. Salvador, one of Bieber's dancers and the current owner of the pup, Todd has a birth defect called severe hip dysplasia.
"Long story short," Salvador wrote on a GoFundMe page he created, "by the time he turns 1, he won’t be able to walk, run, let alone play."
At this point, it might be worth noting that Bieber made an estimated $56 million in 2016, as Page Six pointed out.
Salvador added that the only other option besides surgery is putting Todd down — "which I refuse to do," he wrote.
As you may remember, Bieber famously abandoned his pet monkey, OG Mally, after illegally sneaking him into Europe on a private jet in 2013. The same year, he also gave one of his fans his hamster, Pac — who later died — during a concert.
Thankfully Salvador surpassed his fundraising goal for Todd's surgery by about $650 as of Wednesday evening, but it doesn't make Bieber's habit of pawning off his pets any less troubling.
